Terms

390, 790, 1090 – These terms refer to families of Stik Stall units rather than individual models. For example 790 includes 791, 792, 793, 794, or 795 all of which refer to individual unit configurations.

Bypass – See Slider

Continuous Hinge – A hinge consisting of an extruded “ball and socket” that is the full length of the door panel. The “ball” component is an extruded part of the hinge jamb. The socket component is an extruded part of the hinge rail. A screw applied bushing at the top and bottom of the panel secures the extrusions so they cannot slide apart as well as centers the components.

Deflector – A component that attaches to the bottom rail of a pivot or hinge shower door for the purpose of deflecting water away from the bottom of the unit. The deflector also contains a vinyl sweep that fills the gap between the bottom of the door and the curb.

Drip Rail – A component that attaches to the bottom rail of a pivot or hinge shower door for the purpose of catching the water in a trough as it runs off the door and channeling it back into the inside of the shower unit. The drip rail also contains a vinyl sweep that fills the gap between the bottom of the door and the curb.

Framed – Any unit with an aluminum frame that completely surrounds the glass door panel.

Frameless – Any unit without an aluminum frame that completely surrounds the glass door panel.

Glazed Unit – A shower door unit that is sold with the glass pre-installed into the framework. Stik Stall units sold as glazed will contain a glazed door panel. Any necessary side panel or return panel glass will be included but must be glazed at the time of installation.

Heavy Glass – Refers to Alumax Bath Enclosure units that are designed for 3/8” standard glass. This includes 1038, 1040, 1090 series, and DesignLine.

Hinge Door - Any Alumax Bath Enclosure unit on which the door panel has a full length hinge along the side of the door panel.

KD Unit – Refers to a “knocked down” version of a shower door unit. Knocked down means that the unit is sold minus glass as individual components that must be assembled with the glass or “glazed”.

Neo-Angle – A shower unit with two side panels forming a 135 degree angle on each side of the unit.

Pivot Door – Any Alumax Bath Enclosure unit on which the door panel pivots from a point at the top and bottom of the door panel.

Return Panel – A glass panel that is 90 degrees to the door panel forming an “L” shaped unit.

Shower Height Unit – Refers to a shower slider, pivot or hinge shower door that is designed to sit on the raised curb of a shower enclosure. These units are roughly 65” to 72” tall.

Sidelite – A glass panel that is adjacent to the shower door panel.

Slider - Any Alumax Bath Enclosure unit that has two or more top hung panels that slide left and right upon rollers affixed to the top of the unit. The panels bypass each other with one panel in front of the other when the door is in the open position.

Speed Stall – Shower units consisting of basic Stik Stall framework with the addition of pre-glazed side panels.

Stand-alone door – Any shower door unit designed to be installed as a door by itself without sidelites or return panels of any nature.

Stik Stall – An Alumax shower door framework system that allows a variety of stand-alone doors to be installed with sidelites or return panels. The 30 main Stik Stall aluminum extruded components can be used individually or from kits to achieve an almost infinite variety of unit configurations. When referring to a stand alone door in a Stik Stall configuration the stand-alone model number is incorporated into the Stik Stall model number designation. For example a 338 stand-alone frameless pivot door in a Stik Stall configuration with a sidelite becomes a 391. A 700c stand-alone framed continuous hinge door in a Stik Stall configuration with a return panel becomes a 792c. For more information see Model Numbering System.

Tub Height Unit – Refers to a shower slider unit that is designed to sit upon the rim of an existing tub. These units are roughly 55 Ύ” to 58 ½” tall.
